Technical specifications and dimensions.
PICTIS/R combines the high speed image analysis of QICPIC/R with the gentle dry gravity disperser GRADIS/L in a single robust instrument, specially designed for at-line or on-line applications in the process environment. PICTIS/R is directly operating with manual or automatic feeds, e.g. by external robots, delivering samples to the inlet hopper of the VIBRI/L-GMP dosing unit.
The particles are fed at constant mass flow by the integrated dosing unit into the gravity disperser. Here, the particles are accelerated by gravity of earth and gently dispersed by particle-to-particle and particle-to-wall collisions at impact plates of the fall shaft of the disperser.
Like QICPIC/R it combines well established with innovative techniques: A dry gravity disperser (well proven in many HELOS applications); a pulsed light source with an extremely short exposure time of less than 1 ns which enables clear outline images of fast particles created by the dispersion process (10m/s would result in only 10 nm of motion blur); a high speed camera suitable to measure up to 175 images per second for high statistical relevance of the measured results and short analysis times.
PICTIS/R covers particle sizes between 4.2 µm and 7.51 mm in three measuring ranges. The primary measurement data are stored in 100000 primary classes and can be evaluated in individually definable formats. Pre-defined sets of size classes allow an easy adoption to existing measurement specifications.
The WINDOX software offers simultaneous calculations of all relevant size and shape characteristics. A particle gallery in combination with multiple filter functions supports the evaluation of specific results, even if very large amounts of 10 million particles or more are stored.
PICTIS/R fulfils the security requirements of the FDA and is compliant to 21 CFR Rule 11.

Operating at 175 fps, PICTIS/R collects up to 700 Mbytes of data per second. Efficient algorithms evaluate the data transmitted to a PC via two parallel CoaXPress connections (max. 2 x 5 Gbps). In this case, the host computer can be operated over long distances to the measuring location (e. g. 55 m at 3.125 Gbps).
PICTIS/R is fully integrated in and supported by the latest WINDOX software.
