Is it possible to calculate the ratio of the number of filtered particles in a user result or the particle gallery to the total number of particles?

Yes, it is. The user may create a formula matching his requirements. In order to calculate ratio, the total number of particles and the number of particles contributing to the user result are required. For that reason at least one user mode and one other calculation mode have to be selected in the product sheet of the measurement's product. It is recommended to mark the associated calculation mode of the user result.

The following procedure describes the way to insert the value to the legend of the size distribution diagram.

Step 1:

Select the output tab sheet of the QICPIC sensor control.

Step 2:

Click on the red-white button on the right-hand side of the distribution diagram box. Afterwards the following window appears.

Step 3:

If the legend is not displayed at the moment, it has to be activated by clicking on the legend icon.

Step 4:

Double-click on the legend. In this example, only the database key of the measurement has been displayed yet. The following dialog appears.

Step 5:

Click on the green "+" to add another parameter to the legend's content. The template command list appears.

Step 6:

Select the formula command "F."

Step 7:

This is the most demanding step. The following formula has to be used (value in %):

particle number of user result / total particle number * 100

Therefore the formula definition is:

@CPNUM/(@SETCMODE(1) @CPNUM) * 100

The first value @CPNUM is the particle number of the current standard calculation mode (in this particular case it is the user result). In order to obtain the total particle number, the calculation mode is switched to the associated calculation mode by the @SETCMODE command. The parameter (1) is the number of the associated calculation mode of the user result (EQPC in this case). The @CPNUM command provides the total particle number now.

The main difficulty is the @SETCMODE command, because generally the user does not know the correct parameter for switching to the associated calculation mode. Hence the following procedure is recommended:

Step 7:

Confirm the green colored template command dialog with "OK". Now the diagram configuration dialog looks like this.

Step 8:

Double-click on the list entry of the formula (second entry in the example). Another configuration dialog is presented.

Template Command Description

Step 9:

Enter the description of the parameter (e.g. "filtered fraction") and confirm with "OK".

Step 10:

In the configuration dialog of the diagram confirm your selections with "OK". The result for a measurement might look like the following diagram.
